Compliance with Palo Alto Muncipal Code (Sewer Use Ordinance)
A Research and Development Wastewater Discharge Permit has been granted to Stanford University.
This permits allows campus facilities to discharge treated research and development wastewater and domestic waste to the City of Palo Alto's sewer collection system in compliance with Chapter 16.09 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code (see reference link for code's specific language).
Any violations of said Sewer Discharge Permit and attached Conditions can result in civil or crimianl penalties. Research and Technical facilities are the primary focus of the Palo Alto Sewer Discharge Permit.
Defined wastewater effluent limits are detailed in the permit along with wastewater sampling regimes to assess compliance. In total, twenty-four Stanford facilities are formally included in the Sewer Permit for regulatory monitoring.
