Stanford University Facilities Operations

The role of Zone Management is to coordinate the delivery of building maintenance services to academic buildings in support of the teaching and research mission of the University. The goal is to provide these services in a timely and cost-effective manner with minimal disruption to faculty, staff, and students. Zones

Academic buildings comprising 7.0M square feet of space are divided into 4 geographic zones (A-D) for the purposes of managing the delivery of building maintenance services. This enables the Zone staffs to know their buildings well and focus on the occupants to better address their needs. The on-line clickable Zone Map identifies each zone by color and provides contact information.

Other zones on the campus are Special Houses, Housing & Dining, School of Medicine, and Athletics (DAPER) which are separately managed

In addition to daily operations and maintenance, the Zones serve as the Program Managers for major maintenance and repair projects.

Zone Project Management

As part of the Stanford community, we have intimate knowledge of the campus and it's history. Daily, we work with and facilitate changes within our dynamic environment. Here are a few benefits we provide:

Using Zone Project Management allows department managers to determine their level of involvement in the fine details of project execution. We can carry out many details that department administrators must execute when contracting work directly.
We work closely with Facilities technicians and engineers to ensure continuity of building systems in relation to project scope.
Zone Project Management utilizes quality contractors, consultants and Facilities technicians who are experienced and familiar with the campus, and approved by the University.
Our purpose is to provide seamless project execution, enabling University departments to concentrate on their vital role and function at Stanford.
We share a common goal with other University departments: to support the teaching and research mission of Stanford University.

CIS Maintenance Shop

The CIS Maintenance Shop provides facilities maintenance services in support of the Center for Integrated Systems (CIS, 04-050) and its annex building (CISX, 04-055). The CIS Maintenance Shop provides preventative maintenance and inspection, reactive maintenance, and 24 hour emergency response for building facilities.
